Epa domo, I greeted Papa Ikpomwosa, our neighbour. Esosa, welcome, my son.Una don get holiday? The old man asked. Yes, Epa, we are on Easter break. Oh-0h! exclaimed the old man, welcome home, my son. How body? Fine, Epa, I said and started walkinghome briskly, mama would be expecting me. I got home and called, Mama!Mama! Mama came out and when she saw me, I saw the joy on her face, she ran to hug me, and started shedding tears, I cleaned mama's tears and told her to stop crying. Indeed, the death of oghowen is taking its toll on mama, mama was no longer the lively woman she used to be, she was looking old and frail. Our father had died in a ghastly road accident when I was barely three years old, I don't have any memories of my father, mama was pregnant with oghowen. Papa's family members threw mama and I out of our home and mama had to be the only one fending for us. I grew up seeing mama as a very hardworking ...
Who is a woman like a woman?
Who is a man like a woman?
Who is a man like a man?
Welcome to the society where we think the best of women are like men, because mediocrity is likened to femininity. Welcome to a society where we think the worst of men are like women because mediocrity is likened to femininity.
Our society views strong and vibrant women as people with male qualities because they think women are supposed to be weak and dull. So, when a woman succeeds, you hear things like, 'she is like a man'. When a woman is bold, strong and vibrant, you hear things like, 'she is like a man' and when a lady flops, you hear them say *'women sha'* That's when they remember to tag her slay queen.
So, dear strong woman, 'you are a woman like a man' is actually an insult to your femininity, don't let them tell you that shit.
Yes, you're strong, vibrant, fierce and you are not like a man, you are a woman, a strong woman like a woman because you're human. You're not like a man. Femininity is not weakness, it's not dumbness, it's not stupidity nor is it failure. So, when you become strong, wise, successful, show some little respect to your femininity, let the society know that you're a full female, body and soul and you're strong and wonderful. When they say you're like a man, tell them you are a great human and a woman.
Dear society, on behalf of all the females in the world, i reject the weak men that you call 'men like women'. No, they are not like us, weakness is not associated to our gender, it is humanly not womanly and as such, anyone could be weak. We do have weak women among us too and we do not disown them or say they are not women, you should be brave enough to manage your weak men too. Why? Because we realise that these things are independent of genders, they are who we are as humans not as females or males.
And yes, on behalf of strong women, I say we are not like men, our strength is ours, as humans, not as men.
Now, to all the strong women in the world, tell yourself, tell your daughters, tell your sisters, now, y'all say it together, *'I am strong, I am bold, I am able, I am human and I am a woman'*
Do not allow anyone use your strength to belittle your gender.
